The Sofia Collection is an exclusive design by the young and talented Intonatos brothers founders of the homonymous company located in Caltagirone, Italy.
The bass relief Baroque design featured in these products is fully hand made and available in the hand painted "Tricolore" or the more muted Antique Ivory.
Caltagirone is famed for its Sicilian ceramics since the second century BC and many of the buildings in Caltagirone boast ceramic tiles along with many workshops dedicated to ceramics, many showcasing the best in ceramic craftsmanship.
A key reason for the popularity of Sicilian ceramics is the quality of the Sicilian clay. The clay is freshly mined from Sicilian valleys and mountains, and contains a mixture of unique silicates that give the material its special properties.
